Fruit And Cheese Kabobs

/

I’m totally going to post a Blissdom recap…once I finally get over the awful Blissdom crud that has overtaken my body and Ridley’s too. 🙁 Until then here’s a super fast and easy {and healthy} appetizer for you to drool over.

I made these fruit and cheese kabobs for Ridley’s birthday party a couple of weeks ago and they were a wonderful hit!

Fruit And Cheese Kabobs

  • Fruit – I used strawberries, pineapple and red and green grapes
  • Cheese cubes – I used colby and cheddar
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Bamboo Skewers

Wash and cut up the fruit and then alternate fruit and cheese on each skewer. I initially thought I would leave the head of lettuce whole so the skewers would be secure, but my sweet mother-in-law was extra helpful and washed the lettuce and tore it in pieces. At first I thought it was going to be a total flop, but truly it worked out okay.

I’ve seen kabobs displayed in whole heads of iceberg lettuce on a platter, but since I already planned to use a trifle bowl, a potential fail was averted. 🙂

Isn’t it pretty?

I love that it looks a little like Spring….which I wish was closer than it is!

Do you make any kind of kabobs? I’d love to hear about your favorites so I can use up the leftover skewers that I have on hand! 🙂

  1. I’ve done something similar, but I used a pineapple as my base to hold the skewers. I used shorter skewers, though. I like the lettuce idea!!

  2. I make fruit kabobs, but instead of cheese I add large marshmellows to hold each end on, and sometimes add cantaloupe, cherries, and kiwi.

  3. These look wonderful. I love fresh fruits and I can’t wait til summer when the fruits are in season. Thanks for sharing these delicious looking Kabobs!
Tomorrow I’m featuring a bunch of recipes. I’d love for you to stop in if you have a chance. Have a great day!

  4. These look great! I am going to make some for a women’s lunch I am planning in a few weeks. They remind me of the mini kabobs I made for my daughter’s bridal shower!

  5. How much fruit and cheese did these take? Did you use the really long bamboo skewers? Sorry, if someone already asked these questions.
    Thanks!
