Reindeer Feed Recipe {Easy & Delish}

/

Ridley enjoys sitting in his high chair while I work in the kitchen.  He’s so curious and it’s just the cutest thing ever.

Today, “we” made easy and delish Reindeer Feed and decorated a reindeer bucket courtesy of Betty Crocker.  Since I went to the Baking With Betty event in Minneapolis this summer, Betty and I are pals. {giggle}  I also made two more batches of my Cranberry-Caramel Chex Mix which is pretty much the bomb too!

Reindeer Feed

  • 6 cups Rice Chex
  • 1 bag (12 oz) white vanilla baking chips
  • 1/3 cup coarsely crushed candy canes (14 miniature, unwrapped)

Line a cookie sheet with foil or wax paper.  Place cereal in large bowl.  In a microwaveable bowl, microwave baking chips uncovered on high about 1 1/2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until chips can be stirred smooth.  Stir in half the crushed peppermint candy.

Pour over cereal; toss to evenly coat.  Spread mixture in single layer on cookie sheet.  Immediately sprinkle with remaining candy.  Let stand until set, about 20 minutes.  Gently break up coated cereal. Store in airtight container.

Note: To crush the candy canes, I unwrapped them and put them in a ziplock bag. Then I took out all my stress on them with the back of a spoon.  It worked like a charm…and I feel much better! 🙂

To decorate a Reindeer Feed pail:

Hot glue eyes, a pompom nose and antlers cut out of felt to a small bucket.  Since Ridley’s hands are small, I traced mine so the bucket would look slightly more normal. Ha!  Add your reindeer feed…in a treat bag if you are gifting it.

Enjoy!
