30-Day Giving Challenge: Day 1

Happy November 1st! Can you believe how fast this year is flying by? On this day 19 years ago, my sweet (now) husband put his older brother up to asking me to be his girlfriend. Yes, 19 years ago. Ha! I was 9 years old and he was 10. That’s a story for another day, but if you’re just dying to know the scoop you can read our love story.

30-Day Giving Challenge

November 1st also brings the beginning of the 30-Day Giving Challenge! This is no ordinary challenge. Like last year, participants will be giving intentionally every single day during November, but this year we have amazing sponsors (listed below) who are giving as well.  There are awesome giveaways lined up with items that you’ll be able to give to others. Friends, this is giving on a whole new level – HUGE!

A few weeks ago I shared our family’s 30-Day Giving Challenge experience from last year.  Our hearts were changed as we looked for intentional ways to give to those in need…of our time, of our prayers, of our money.

This year we are planning to give again in an even bigger way. This year we are personally hosting an Online/Offline Baby Shower for a local pregnancy crisis center. Details are coming soon, and many sweet babies and mommas need your participation.

There are millions of ways to give. Think about how you can bless your neighbors, co-workers, friends, family.

  • Bake a cake or cookies for a shut-in or elderly person you know
  • Spend time with an elderly friend (that’s FREE!)
  • Volunteer at a local shelter (FREE!)
  • Clean our your closets and donate the items to a thrift store (FREE!)
  • Pick up the tab for the person behind you in the drive-thru
  • Check out this awesome list of ideas!
  • etc…be creative! 🙂

Join the 30-Day Giving Challenge TEAM as we give BIG this November!  Anyone can join the challenge!  If you are a blogger and you write about the challenge, you can link up your post here.

Have you taken the challenge?  What is your favorite way to give?

  1. I love you babe! I’m going to give you at least one kiss per day for the next month. 🙂 And, of course, be the financier for our other “givings”. 🙂 Love you!

  2. Count me in! I’m going to post on facebook as well as my blog. My blog is a dedicated blog exclusively about our year of not buying anything new (it is over in 2 months) but since this challenge is right up the alley of the blog I am going to post it there! (if I can figure out how! I am not too techno savvy! lol)

  3. P.S. we’ve gotten a lot of attention from our challenge/blog (radio, t.v. and newspaper) and we have another t.v. interview coming out near the end of this week – so perhaps this will give you more traffic on YOUR blog! 🙂

  4. Ohh… this is so wonderful! I am gearing up for this too.
Will have to link up and join! Are we to post every day about what we have done? Or is a collection of the days randomly?
    Intentional giving… love it!

    1. Hey girl! Just keep up with what your family gives and blog about it weekly. 🙂 There will be a weekly link up on the 30 Day Giving Challenge site. 🙂

  5. Hi Myra,
I feel kinda weird writing this note but the Lord laid it on my heart today to be a part of the challenge.

I also graduated from BJU ’06 (Sally Robbins), came across your blog, recognised you from around campus and your blog opened up a whole new world for me 🙂 I had never read blogs before, WHAT AN ENCOURAGEMENT!!

My husband (BJU grad ’07)and I are in ministry in New Zealand and i, like you, strive to be all that the Lord desires for me… and this month i believe that part of that is this challenge 🙂

I hadn’t intended to take part, therefore do not have any big plans, budget or ambitious ideas but i’ll ask the Lord to reveal needs, be my shepherd in this and leave the rest up to Him. I’m excited! Thank you for being faithful to Him in what you do and therefore opening a door of opportunity for a non-blogger, wife and mum in New Zealand 😀
