Friday Fails – A Panic & Klutz Fest

Photobucket

Today has gone nothing like I planned. Ridley and I slept in … which was so nice. As I was cleaning up from breakfast, I got a phone call from a realtor who wanted to show our house in an hour! Oh. my. word. I told her that we could do it in two hours.

Mild panic began to ensue as I realized how much work had to be done to make the house presentable. Ack! I called my sister to ask her to pray for me, but she offered to come help. At first I turned her down, but then I said, “Sure. Come and sweep my floors.” 🙂

So, I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off, shoving clean clothes back in the dryer, bagging up garbage, lighting candles so it would smell nice, hanging up my husband’s clothes,  and zipping up suitcases. Yes, those silly suitcases are still not fully unpacked. {rolls eyes}

Kelly swept the floors and Ridley watched Veggie Tales. Then before we knew it Ridley was standing there naked as a jay bird. Silly little man took off his sleeper AND his diaper!

We managed to leave the house with 15 minutes to spare. Whew!

When will I learn to keep the entire house perfectly clean at all times? Probably never. We live here and I’m okay with that. So I don’t count my panic this morning as failure.

But…

I must tell you about my klutzy side. Yes, I’m a brilliant klutz. It comes from my dearest mother. {love you mom!}  We both get the droppsies or the trippsies. Like the times that I’ve fallen flat on my face either coming in the house or walking into Walgreens. That was a fun day.

Ridley and I stopped by the Dollar Tree to pick up a few supplies for a project tutorial that readers have been asking about. As I dug around looking for exactly what I wanted, I somehow managed to knock a box full of artificial fruit off the shelf.

Yep, I’m so so coordinated and graceful. Not. #klutzsuccess #gracefulfail

Ha!

Do you ever have klutzy moments?

  1. Aw, Myra, I feel your pain about the realtor thing… we’ve sold three homes in our (relatively) short married lives and it is stressful to try to keep it all together!!! This last one we listed with a 3yo, a 4yo, and a 1 week old. What were we THINKING? 😉 I laughed out loud about the fruit… not so much because you knocked it down, but because you took a pic! Hah- nothing says “blogger” like that! 😉 My brother-in-law once knocked down an entire display of “festive panties” in a Victoria’s Secret while shopping with me… the salesgirl YELLED at him in front of the whole store. He was 19. I felt so bad for him.

  2. Know that running around feeling! Oh my goodness, I love your frugal decorating pictures, beautiful!!!! I haven’t done mine yet and you got my all inspired. 🙂

  3. Oh Myra, I can totally relate to the house-showing thing! Only, I’ve never had the nerve to ask the realtor to come later, which means I’ve had as little as 15 minutes to get the house ready. It’s amazing how quickly you can get the house clean in moments like that–makes me wonder why my house isn’t always clean! Hint: I’ve found some pretty interesting places to throw clutter into at the last second (my favorites were behind the microwave cart doors & behind a sliding door in the coffee table). You just have to remember to go back to those places again in case there’s something important in there (like the mail). =)

  4. My daughter and I used to be known as the ones who fell upstairs. I consider it a talent 🙂 I really enjoyed the post!
    By the way, my daugher’s name is Mary. If I had another daughter she was going to be named Myra 🙂 I had Kevin instead.

    Love you!
