Before & After Eye Candy

/

I’ve been anxiously waiting to share these before and after photos with you. It is amazing what beautiful things can be created with so little money!

A month or so ago, I found this stool at a yard sale for $3.00. I thought I would spray paint the frame, recover the “cushion” and use it for a piano bench.

But as soon as I got it home, I found the perfect home for this stool.

Under my apple green desk, of course!

My plans to spray paint the wood were quickly derailed as soon as I saw the gorgeous warmth that the wood tones brought to the desk’s cool green. I grabbed a scrap of fabric from my stash and covered the cushion.  I just love it!

My friend A bought these delightful bottles at a yard sale recently.  They, however, were not so delightful at first…the bottles were FULL of gross old garlic. Ick.  But A bravely washed them out and filled the bottles with colorful Fall candy.

Love them!

I saw this old anniversary clock at a thrift store for 0.50 and knew I had to have it.  Ever since my friend Sarah made a cloche from an anniversary clock, I’ve been on the look out for one.

I took it apart just like Sarah shows in her post…easy peasy.  Then I spray painted the base chocolate brown because that’s what I had on hand.

I placed the clock base under my white footed bowl. The base adds interest and a little more height to the vignette.

Then I cleaned the glass globe and placed it over a candle on top of my bookcases.

A lovely cloche for only 0.25! 🙂  Not too shabby!  Obviously, I won’t be burning this candle, but I didn’t intend to anyway.

Have you found any awesome thrift store or yard sale finds lately?

  1. Hey, Myra, I love, love that stool with your fab green desk. And that desk is just amazing, I totally love that piece. I found a stool this summer too & haven’t done anything with it yet, but mine needs painting, so I’ll get to it eventually.

All your remakes are beautiful. Thanks so much for linking up! I wish you’d come back to B’ham & let’s go shopping one day. That would be so fun. I really want to get up to that architectural place soon too in Cullman, so maybe we can meet up there. I really think I’m coming up in the next couple of weeks.

    1. Thank you so much Rhoda! I would love to meet you at Southern Accents! Let me know and I’ll meet you there!!

  2. What a great idea from that Anniversary clock! I am loving it!! I am a BIG fan of milk glass and white glass, I love what you did with that piece, really added nice subtle depth to it. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I love the stool!! And all your creativity! I have a creative side, but either my thrift store is lame or I lack the skill to look at something and think “I could take that apart and do x, y or z with it!” I really think it’s the former, but maybe a combination of both 😛

    1. Girl, you can so do this! Just look at everything and think about what you can make out of it. I get a lot of inspiration from magazines and other blogs. 🙂

  4. Well, there you go again, blowing me away with your creativity and resourcefulness. My Goodwill list is longer than my grocery list–I just haven’t had a chance to go during soccer season. But when I do…..lookout!

    Thanks for the inspiration.
