Friday Fails – Two Weeks Past Deadline

Photobucket

A couple months ago, I heard about a fantastic Do-It-For-Others project that Kristen from We Are THAT Family was organizing. I jumped on the opportunity to sew pillowcase dresses for little girls in Africa. The dresses were to be donated to Little Dresses For Africa.

My heart is in Africa, so this was a perfect opportunity for me to give.

Then, my leg got infected. After my leg healed, we went to Toronto, Canada for a family trip.

And the unmade-dresses still sat there. I felt terrible that I failed to meet the deadline by the end of July. But when I heard that a friend hadn’t completed her dresses, I sighed with relief.

Yesterday, I sat at my sewing machine and got them done. Thankfully, my sweet friend Sarah made four dresses for me, so I only had to make six.

They turned out so cute. I got them all folded, boxed up and mailed…two weeks late!

Phew! I feel SO much better to have that done!

This month’s Do-It-For-Others-Project over at We Are THAT Family is to collect shoes for the people of South Africa. Check it out!

Have you ever miserably failed at a deadline?

  1. I always miss deadlines! People have come to expect it from me I think 😉 The dresses look like they turned out great! What a great cause to be involved with.

I don’t see a linky here. It might be my Internet – we are having severe weather at the moment and it has caused a few Internet problems a little earlier. Hopefully it shows up later or tomorrow so I can link up!

  2. ohhh wellll of course I have. Not sure I have ever posted about something in particular though. Just so glad he doesn’t see us as failing. I’m sure the timing of their arrival was simply splendid for those in Africa. Deadlines are for us to not be procrastinators..as long as it gets done, that’s what’s good. And when things come up that hinder us from following through, we have grace. 😉

But I’ll share one with you now. The thing I probably fall short in the most is getting the washed laundry OUT of the washer and into the drier before it sits all night and ends up sour. :/ Come to think of it..I probably have a load that needs to be changed before I get to bed.

    See you at Relevant.
