Friday Fails – The Shameless Version

Photobucket

Today has been a crazy day. Wow.

Ridley and I went to town to run errands this afternoon. As always, I changed his diaper *right* before we left. By the third stop (about 45 minutes later) when I got him out of his car seat, I immediately felt that his clothes were not just damp, but soaked. #diaperfail

I was speechless.

Of course, I didn’t have an extra outfit for him because “leakage” hasn’t been a problem for months. #fail

I changed Ridley’s diaper in the trunk and then proceeded to go into the fabric store holding a nearly naked baby on my arm.

We had to run by Target and I prayed we wouldn’t see anyone we knew.

As I was walking into the store, I saw the reflection of someone (that I knew) walking behind me in to the store. Ugh. Are you kidding me?

Me with my “leprous” leg and Ridley only wearing his diaper.

Yeah. Totally not embarrassing.

After we came home for naptime, I needed to head over to my parents’ house for a few minutes. I picked Ridley up along with my purse and the diaper bag and I walked out the door…

Then a horrible realization washed over me.

On the hottest day of the summer so far, I locked the door and pulled it shut behind me, leaving my keys on the kitchen counter. #fail

Ugh.

I called our realtor in hopes that she was nearby, but she didn’t answer the phone. So, I called my sister and my mom to let them know how crazy I am, in case they didn’t already know.

Then I called my hubby. He was able to leave work a few minutes early to come rescue us from the wretched heat.

Have you ever locked yourself out of the house?

  1. I’ve locked myself out of the house on numerous occasions, but our contractor taught me how to break in. (Which is a little disheartening!) You just wedge a credit card or something like it into the door by where the lock is and wiggle it around and POP! Wouldn’t work for some, but it has saved us a few times. LOL!

  2. the best thing we ever did was put a garage door opener on that had a box you installed on the outside of the garage and you put a code into it!!! You can never be locked out… greatest thing ever….

    1. @Jessica, Jessica, we have that same thing. The problem was that I locked the door coming from the house into the garage… 🙂

      1. @Myra, ah… that would be a problem. We never lock that door… i’m not even sure it has a lock… but that would be frustrating for sure! Have a wonderful weekend…. hope your leg is feeling better. How is weaning going? Are you feeling better? How is Ridley doing with it?

  3. A similar experience happened to me around Christmas when we went to Opry Mills to have my son’s first picture made with Santa. He had wet through his pants on the car ride over. I managed to clean him up as best as I could in the bathroom and I dried his pants using the hand dryers. By the time we got in line to see Santa, he had spit up ALL OVER the front of his shirt, so… In his Santa pics, he is wearing his Crimson Tide bib, to hide his mess!! (I was a new mom and totally forgot to bring a change of clothes!)…. At least it was summer and you could let Ridley go sans pants! 🙂

  4. You should get a new lock with a keypad. I absolutely LOVE mine. Plus no more worrying about locking keys inside the house.

  5. You are not alone on the naked babe in public! In fact, I have written TWO Fri Fails posts on my diaper bag fails 🙂 We are not alone and that is a great feeling!

    Have a good weekend!
