Friday Fails – The Shower Drain

Photobucket

For the last few weeks, I’ve noticed that the shower drain hasn’t been draining quite as fast {sarcasm}.  It got to the point where  I was literally getting a foot soak while I showered.  Multi-tasking at its finest! Ewww.

So on my Hubs’ off day on Tuesday, I asked him to see if he could get anything out of the drain.  You’re not going to believe what he found!  I was in shock!  I can’t believe that I’m not bald because of all this AND all the hair I throw away every day. Ugh.

Major gross!!  Major fail!!

Friday Fail tip: To avoid shower drain cloggage, clean it out more frequently than once every (almost) two years! Ha!!

Have you ever had a shower drainage problem?

  1. Ooooooooh my gosh!! Okay, when I first went to click on the vid, I just KNEW that I was going to recognize what I was about to see because – yes, we definitely have drain clogging problem-O’s, but I think you have us beat, girl! That was a LOT! But then again, you said it hadn’t been cleaned out in 2 years, right? I think that hubby takes off the grate in the shower floor about once a month and cleans it out. When it just starts to slow down – it drives us bonkers until – uh, I let HIM take care of it! ;-D Yeah, I’m weak.

  2. I did not look at the video. I know what was on that video. We had the same problem at our house not long ago. Really REALLY disgusting!

I just found your Meme. I’m psyched ’cause I’ve got a big whopping FAIL to post for next week.

  3. Oddly, I’m not grossed out because I deal with my own hair doing stuff like that. I have enough hair for 4 people so it’s all over the house and most annoyingly to my husband it is all over the bathroom floor. My bathroom scale has furry feet. Our Electrolux & our iRobot are always being de-haired…and it’s always my hair.

  4. I’m not going to even watch the video cause I already know what’s your DH found. I used to have long hair so I know, ;). Tip: buy those plastic drain traps that you put over the shower drain. I got mine at Wal-Mart for $1.50. It’ll save you the foot bath, lol.

  5. We so have this problem at the Carswell manor. It’s gross and disgusting and I’m always the one getting blamed for it. Glad it’s fixed. And standing in a foot of water to shower is almost as disgusting as a mouse.

  6. Extremely gross, Cuz!! Blech!! (But I so recognize that… We had the same issue for MONTHS after Cayden was born, until my hormones started balancing back out) Note to self: clean shower drain weekly, not bi-annually! Lol

  7. Oh may gosh! Talk about a major hairball, WOW! It is a miracle you are not bald (lol). I am sure our drain probably looks the same way. Especially during the winter months I loose so much hair.

  8. Oh, yes, we totally had this problem when living in our older house. The things that would come out of that drain still amaze me when I think about it! lol Good to know we aren’t the only ones with ‘dead rats’ in our shower pipes(as my kids would say). 🙂
Now that we’re learning we have so much more in common, I really can’t wait to meet you! haha
    Have a great weekend.

  9. Funny, Funny, Funny!!! Ernie is a trooper. haha J would have cleaned the drain but I don’t think he would have been laughing at what came out. You go girl. The filter, The drain, Ewww what’s next? I can’t wait to read. LOL

  10. EWWW Gross is right!! I can’t believe Ernie let you actually video him and post it on the web! HA HA Ha!!! Too funny! Maybe if I show this to my hubby it would “motivate” him to do something about our slow drains. I doubt it though. I been pulling my hair out of the drain for years but I can’t get the deep down stuff.

  11. Wow, impressive. If my husband doesn’t finish his pop or the ice melts and it gets watered down, I throw it down the various drains just for a little preventative maintenance. The acid and the carbonation seem to do the trick and I hardly ever de-clogg. Plus I’m not spending money on harsh chemicals. I didn’t post a fail friday, so my fail friday is that I forgot about it. 😉 Take care and see you next Friday. 🙂

  12. I am so thankful that thus far, I have had landlords to unclog my drains! That was one thing that always drove my dad nuts…living with 3 women and all their hair! He used to snake the drain every few months to prevent bad clogs. I bet he is loving that I have moved out so now it is just my sister and mom!

  13. 2 weeks in a row of me double-linking?! I am thinking my computer has a mind of it’s own, for sure! Hhmmm, maybe next week I won’t link up because apparently my computer likes to do that on it’s own, ha!
