My Faithful Husband

This is a VERY real post…be warned!

My heart is so overwhelmed with love, awe and thankfulness for my wonderful husband. He sacrifices so much each day for our family. He’s working two jobs, very long hours, days and sometimes nights away from home just to provide for our family. There are days that I often feel guilty because life would be SO much easier for him if I just went back to work. (Note: When I quit my job at the end of September, the economy crashed and hubby’s job was radically affected…to be honest we lost thousands of dollars of income each month.) I struggled with guilt of not “helping” to make ends meet.

This whole story has been and is a walk of faith for us. All of this really is plenty for another post, but I just have to say that my Ernie has never wavered in his confidence that God would provide. He always encourages me that the bills will get paid and we are going to be okay. My husband is my best friend, my lover, my soulmate. He is my absolute favorite person and he makes anything and everything more fun. He is SO supportive of me and my mothering. He has never complained about my cooking. He’s incredibly easy to please. God knew what I needed in my life…the headship, leadership, agape love, incredible devotion and wonderful friendship that my husband provides for me. Do you get what I’m saying? He’s incredible!

We’ve had our ups and downs (who hasn’t?). Our first year of marriage was the hardest. We argued more than I care to remember. Most of the time it was my stubbornness and pride that was the problem. His patient love always won me over…made me feel terrible for being so sinful! Thankfully we agreed before we got married that we wouldn’t go to sleep at night with a problem between us. Yes, we had some long nights! Ha! My husband is a free spirit and I’m Miss Practicality. He’s a dreamer and I’m a realist. We compliment each other in a perfect way. We are learning to laugh at each other’s craziness and love each other in spite of failures and faults.

Anyway, yesterday Ernie took off so we could get some errands taken care of. We had a wonderful time together as a family. We laughed so much together! It was a good day.

  1. Precious post! It brought tears to my eyes thinking about what God has brought y’all through. It’s such a blessing hearing you praise God and your dear husband. Love you!

  2. Myra, thank you for visiting me! It sounds like we have some things in common. 🙂 Our husbands sound so much alike!! My husband is doing all he can to provide for our family but he never complains and he certainly never makes me feel guilty for “not contributing” (as the world says) to our family. I’m so thankful that he believes that what I am doing at home raising our children is the most importnat thing in the world. We are blessed women, aren’t we?

I’m out of town right now and borrowing a computer, but I can’t wait to return home and re-visit your blog!
